Battle Lab Tests Future Battlefield Communications-MIL

Currently the lab is closing out an evaluation on one of several satellite-based Mounted Battle Command on-the-move systems that will provide broadband communications to a battlefield commander using lighter, smaller, and less expensive vehicle-mounted technologies.
"But the electronics are more technically complex because the miniaturized components must be crafted to withstand the severities of a harsh combat environment," said Dunn. "Right now we are investigating the possibilities of placing small satellite antennas on military vehicles, particularly command and control vehicles." 12-05

Fuel Cells Could Save Air Force Thousands-MIL

At the end of the year-long program, the Advanced Power Technology Office will receive a final report on the unit data retrieved by Plug Power and the fuel cell systems will be returned to the company for destructive testing and autopsy to determine what configuration of the 10 systems worked best.

Next generation of fuels mobility equipment-MIL

“Before, fuel would be pumped into the bladder from a commercial truck, then pumped into a fuel truck. The truck would then refuel the aircraft and return to the bladder to be refilled,” Sgt. Standifer said. “With (the new equipment), we will be able to issue directly to the aircraft as well as utilize it as a refueling unit fill-stand. This eliminates the double-handling of fuel and increases our overall capability to refuel aircraft.” 12/20/2005
